Cookie Statement

What do I need to know about cookies?
Cookies are small text files which are transferred to your computer or mobile when you visit a website or app.
We use them to:
  • Remember information about you, so you don’t have to give it again.
  • Keep you signed in, even on different devices
  • Help us understand how people are using our services, so we can make them better
  • To find out if our emails have been read and if you find them useful

How does www.G1DFoundation.org use cookies?
We use cookies in the ways outlined above.  We do not use cookies to customize your website experience, deliver advertising, or track activity across website services.

How do I change my cookie settings?
You can change your browser’s settings any time so it’ll tell you when cookies get sent to it, or it can refuse cookies altogether. Check the Help section in your browser for more information.

How do web browsers track my information?
They use various technical tools, including:
  • Cookies
  • IP addresses
  • HTTP referrer
  • Tracking scripts
  • User agents
  • Browser fingerprinting

There are different types of cookies:

First Party Cookies:  These cookies are set by the website you’re visiting and only that website can read them.

Third Party Cookies:  These cookies are set by someone other than the owner of the website you’re visiting. Some www.G1DFoundation.org web pages may also contain content from other sites like YouTube, which may set their own cookies and have their own cookie policy. Also, if you share a link to a www.G1DFoundation.org page, the service you share it on (for example, Facebook) may set a cookie on your browser. We have no control over Third Party cookies - you can disable them by following the directions below.

Session Cookies:  These cookies only last as long as your online session, and disappear from your computer or device when you close your browser (like Internet Explorer or Safari).

Persistent Cookies:  These cookies stay on your computer or device after your browser has been closed and last for a time specified in the cookie. We use persistent cookies when we need to know who you are for more than one browsing session. For example, we use them to remember your preferences for the next time you visit.

Strictly Necessary Cookies:  These cookies let you use all the different parts of the www.G1DFoundation.org website. We collect data from you to help us understand how people are using the website, what countries people are visiting from, and what pages  and content are most often visited.

Functional Cookies:  These cookies help personalize website experiences by remembering your preferences and settings.

Performance Cookies:  These cookies make sure that the website is working properly and allow the owner to fix any errors.

Advertising Cookies:  Some websites use advertising networks to show you specially targeted adverts when you visit. These networks may also be able to track your browsing across different sites.  We don't use advertising cookies.

Other Tracking Technologies:  Some sites use things like web beacons, clear GIFs, page tags and web bugs to understand how people are using them and to target advertising to them.  They usually take the form of a small, transparent image that is embedded in a web page or email. They work with cookies and capture data like your IP address, when you viewed the page or email, what device you were using and where you were.  We don't use other tracking technologies, but some Third Parties may.

How to avoid web beacons and other tracking technologies:
You can normally render them ineffective by switching off cookies in your browser. There are also browser add-ons and extensions that specifically block web beacons. To avoid web beacons in emails, you can turn off images in your email service. Check your email’s Help section to find out how.

The "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting:
Some internet browsers have a DNT setting.  This sends a signal to websites asking them not to track your browsing.
