GLUT1 Deficiency Foundation
Collaborative Care Centers
The GLUT1 Deficiency Foundation is excited to launch a new program to recognize excellence in medical care for the GLUT1 Deficiency community.
The Collaborative Care Center designation honors exceptional hospitals and clinics that demonstrate comprehensive, multidisciplinary, and patient-centered care and work collaboratively across the GLUT1 Deficiency community to further knowledge, advance research, and support patients and families.
benefits for patients:
Individuals with GLUT1 Deficiency face complex, lifelong medical challenges that are often unique to each person. In many cases, local healthcare providers may have limited experience with GLUT1 Deficiency, may not have treated another patient with this diagnosis, or may not have the support services available that are needed for optimal care.
Visiting a GLUT1 Deficiency Collaborative Care Center can provide valuable support to both patients and families by connecting them with experienced specialists who provide comprehensive care and also help coordinate care with local providers when more complex needs arise. If a center is not available near you, our Family Recommended Specialist List can help you locate medical professionals across the globe who are familiar with GLUT1 Deficiency and have been recommended by others in their care.

The application cycle for the inaugural Collaborative Care Network was open from October 1 to December 1, 2025. Interested centers stepped forward to submit their information for consideration, and a formal review and scoring process helped ensure decisions are based on consistent standards, clinical expertise, and a demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality, coordinated, and patient-centered care.
