Summit Update and Waitlist for Registration
April 17th Update: Currently at Capacity
We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming response to the 2026 GLUT1 Deficiency Scientific and Family Summit in Asheville this July. The enthusiasm and excitement from this community mean so much, and we are honored by the strong interest in coming together again.
At this time, we have reached our current capacity of 380 attendees and general registration is now closed.
We know there may still be families and professionals hoping to attend. Because plans can sometimes change, we are maintaining a waitlist in the event space becomes available due to cancellations.
Thank you again for your show of support and eagerness to meet, share, and learn with us. We can’t wait to be with you and welcome everyone to Asheville this summer.
April 2nd Update:
We have some important updates to share about the upcoming GLUT1 Deficiency Scientific and Family Summit this July in Asheville. We have been truly overwhelmed (in the best possible way!) by the response so far. The level of interest and early registrations has been incredible. In fact, we have already surpassed our attendance numbers for our 2024 Summit in Dallas and 2022 in San Diego.
Going into this year, we weren’t quite sure what to expect. Asheville is a smaller city and a bit more off the beaten path compared to some of our previous locations – but you showed up in a big way. We couldn’t be more grateful for this community and the enthusiasm to come together.
Because of this strong response, we are currently at or very close to the capacity for our meeting space setup. We are still working with the hotel team to explore creative ways to expand capacity, including seating configurations and use of space for meals and sessions. Because these details depend on venue logistics, regulations, and setup options, we are awaiting final guidance from the hotel before we can confidently reopen registration – but we are actively engaged and will share updates as soon as we have clarity.
Registration Pause:
At this time, we have paused registration while we work through these options. Our goal is to avoid a situation where attendees register and then we’re unable to accommodate them. We want to be thoughtful and responsible in how we move forward so that every attendee has a positive and comfortable experience.
Registration Waitlist:
We do anticipate that we’ll be able to add at least a few more spots, and we have created a waitlist for those who are still interested in attending but have not yet registered. If you would like to be notified as soon as we have a clear path forward, we encourage you to join the waitlist so we can reach out directly with updates and next steps.
Hotel Updates:
The room block at the Embassy Suites (our host hotel) has now sold out – something the hotel has told us has never happened this far in advance. We are unfortunately unable to add more rooms to that block. If you have already registered but have not yet reserved your room, there may still be limited availability at standard rates.
For those still planning, we’re pleased to share that a special booking link is now available for the DoubleTree Hilton Downtown – which is just steps away – at the $199 rate and includes complimentary breakfast and discounted parking at their hotel for our group.
There are also several additional hotels within easy walking distance, and we’ve compiled options in the Venue and Guest Room Information section of our website to help with planning.
Thank You:
We understand that this may create some uncertainty, and we truly appreciate your patience as we work through the details. Please know how honored and excited we are to bring this special community together again, and we’ll let you know more just as soon as we are able. In the meantime, please reach out to Glenna with any questions.
