European Glut1DS Conference

invitation from host Prof. Dr. Jörg Klepper

 Dear families,

You all have children affected by the Glut1 defect or are affected yourselves. Much has been achieved in the last 30 years, and most has been learned from the patients and families themselves. Without the support associations worldwide, we would not be able to move forward.

But you also need the specialists, the experts, the researchers, and the practitioners who are working together to find new therapies and insights into the Glut1 defect. You can not only listen to them at the congress, but also talk to them. “Building Networks” is the motto of the congress!

Therefore, I would like to invite you once again cordially and explicitly as affected persons to the Glut1 conference from June 15-16, 2023 in Aschaffenburg! Fortunately, we have been able to arrange a substantial discount for affected persons (soon on the homepage) and also the Förderverein Glut1-Defekt e.V. has promised a contribution.

—————-

In addition to the scientific program, it is also worthwhile to come for the “non-scientific events” of the congress – here is a brief overview:

Wednesday, June 14, 2023:

The get-together from 18:00-20:00 is free of charge for all participants and a good start to get into conversation and take a look at the industry exhibition. The evening will be accompanied by snacks and drinks.

The congress days, June 15-16, 2023:

There will be all-day childcare in the congress building. Two experienced educators from our children’s hospital as well as helpers will take care of children of all ages. The clinic clowns will come “for rounds” on Thursday noon, June 15, 2023, and a playmobile will also offer outdoor play opportunities.

Through the Förderverein Glut1-Defekt e.V., you can also take part in a cooking class in the Volkshochschule building directly opposite the Congress Hall, led by our ecotrophologist Ms. Höglinger, SPZ Aschaffenburg. The registration for this is possible via the homepage of the association.

We are also hoping for a ketogenic “show cooking” in one of the congress halls by one of the industry sponsors (in preparation). Ketogenic food will also be available throughout the congress and during all breaks. We will also provide a refrigerator, a microwave oven and dishes – if you want to bring your own food and drinks (please label them with your name).

On Thursday, June 15th we will also have the “Bavarian Evening” – music, entertainment, drinks, regular and ketogenic Bavarian food and some surprises are waiting for you! We would be pleased if you would also participate in this program item.

In addition, please note the following: All areas and halls of the Stadthalle Aschaffenburg are easily accessible via wheelchair. In the online registration you can also indicate the languages you speak. We will print these on your name badge on site so that you can see directly which language your counterpart speaks. Furthermore, you will find all abstracts of the speakers in German and English on the conference homepage. There will also be the possibility to ask questions in German and English via microphone or chat – these questions as well as the answers will then be translated accordingly by our room assistants.

For those who would like to visit Aschaffenburg on their own initiative, here is a good place to start:

Ägidius – Life in a Roman Family – Pompejanum, up to 14 pers., also English, 90 min, 78 €, total costs for the group, no extra entrance fee, rainproof.

– City detectives Old Town, rally and drawing own city map, 25 pers., also English, 90 min, 88 € for whole group.

Contact for both events is VHS AB, Führungsnetz: Tel. 06021-386-8866 VHS Aschaffenburg, Schlossplatz, Fr. Holz.

For those of you who can and want to stay a little longer in Aschaffenburg: On Friday, June 16th the Volksfest Aschaffenburg will open at 10 p.m. with fireworks; the weekend can then be visited all day.

With best regards,

Yours,

Prof. Dr. Jörg Klepper
