The GLUT1 Deficiency Foundation is excited to announce the launch of a new initiative to recognize and support excellence in medical care for our community: the Collaborative Care Network.

A Collaborative Care Center designation signifies membership in the GLUT1 Deficiency Collaborative Care Network and honors exceptional hospitals and clinics that demonstrate:

  • Comprehensive, multidisciplinary, and patient-centered care
  • A strong commitment to collaboration across the GLUT1 Deficiency community
  • Active contributions to advancing knowledge and research
  • Ongoing support for patients and families

Why this matters for patients:

Individuals with GLUT1 Deficiency face complex, lifelong medical challenges that often require specialized expertise and coordination of care. Many providers may have limited experience with the condition—or may not have treated another patient with this diagnosis.

By visiting a GLUT1 Deficiency Collaborative Care Center, families gain access to experienced specialists who understand the unique needs of our community and are committed to delivering high quality, patient-centered care.

We are proud to launch this program and look forward to working together to expand access to expert, collaborative, and compassionate care for everyone affected by GLUT1 Deficiency.

The application process opens today, October 1st, and closes on December 1st. Our inaugural Collaborative Care Center designations will be announced in January.

We invite you to learn more by visiting our website, and we encourage you to share this information with those who may be interested in applying.

We look forward to sharing news about the launch of our complementary Collaborative Research Network in the near future.

We’re extremely grateful for the support we receive that makes programs like this possible.
