Scientific and Family Summit
We are delighted to share that the next GLUT1 Deficiency Summit - our 12th community convening - will be held in July 2026 in beautiful Asheville, North Carolina. We look forward to welcoming the community for another incredible opportunity to meet, share, and learn alongside each other as we bring together clinicians, researchers, and families to share knowledge, build and strengthen collaborations and connections, drive research progress, improve patient care, and ease burdens.

We are sincerely grateful for the overwhelming response to the 2026 GLUT1 Deficiency Scientific and Family Summit in Asheville this July. The enthusiasm and excitement from this community mean so much, and we are honored by the strong interest in coming together again.
At this time, we have reached our current capacity of 380 attendees and general registration is now closed.

Registration Fees: March 16th through June 1st

Registration includes:
Access to all presentation sessions, all social events, the activity room, exhibits, attendee materials, and the following meals:
Day 1: evening social meal
Day 2: lunch
Day 3: lunch and evening social meal
*hotel guests have access to the free breakfast buffet provided by Embassy Suites, which includes keto-friendly options
*detailed information will be provided to registered attendees about menus, socials, and activities closer to the date
A note about capacity:
While this Summit will be held in a smaller venue than our last one, we’re excited about a more intimate experience. Early registration is encouraged in case we reach capacity or fill our discount hotel block.
Activity Room:
- An activity room will be available for use during the full day sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday
- The room will have arts & crafts, games, puzzles, and other activities available
- Some invited guests will be providing entertainment and special activities
- No supervision will be provided
- Attendees who plan to use these activity rooms need to provide their own supervision (see Child Care Provider registration option)
- Only registered attendees with adequate supervision have access to the room
Summit Shirts:
- A special edition commemorative t-shirt has been created for the Summit
- Individuals with GLUT1 Deficiency and their siblings who attend the Summit will get a complimentary shirt as a gift from the G1DF (sizes will be collected from you during the registration process)
- Others may order a shirt to have waiting for you at the registration desk when you check in at the Summit in Asheville
- Shirt prices are set just slightly above cost at $12 and $14
Flash Talks Presentations:
In place of a traditional poster session, the GLUT1 Deficiency Scientific and Family Summit will feature 5-minute flash talks from students, early-career investigators, and researchers new to the GLUT1 Deficiency community.
These talks will take place during the Scientific Sessions on Wednesday, July 15th. Six presenters will be selected via an application process, with travel stipends offered to support full Summit participation.
Flash Talk applications will be accepted through May 1st or until presentation slots are filled.

The Embassy Suites Downtown Asheville will be the venue for both guest accommodations and the meeting.
