New AI Advocate Tool for Citizen Health

For this edition, I would like to share a resource available to patients and families in the GLUT1
Deficiency community in the United States.
As you may know, one arm of our GLUT1 Deficiency Natural History Study is the digital Natural
History Study through Citizen Health. Participation in the Digital Natural History Study allows
people to collect their electronic health records in one place. A new feature that Citizen Health
has developed, currently in Beta, is called AI Advocate. Once participants log in to their account,
they can see the AI Advocate on the left-hand side of their dashboard.
The AI Advocate works like any other AI assistant and helps you quickly and effectively extract
information from the electronic medical records stored in your Citizen Health account. Some
examples of how people use the AI Advocate include: preparing for a medical appointment with
a new physician, filling out medical forms or surveys, and organizing information to share with a
school or for an Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meeting. I have personally used this
tool to generate a list of medications my daughter has taken and to track developmental
milestones by age.
Since the AI Advocate is still in Beta, it’s important to review the information carefully. If you
notice anything incorrect, you can report it directly to Citizen Health through their help feature.
Citizen Health encourages users to share feedback while testing this tool to help improve its
accuracy and usefulness.
Citizen is running a special campaign to register each person who uses AI Advocate between now and November 30th for a $5,000 prize.
